It’s now been a quarter century since Michael Moore burst onto the documentary scene and busted it open for more mainstream audiences with a more entertainment-minded approach to nonfiction cinema. Moore’s first film, Roger & Me, made its debut at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 1989, followed by a quick acquisition by Warner Bros. and theatrical release that December.
To commemorate the anniversary, the studio is now putting out a special remastered home video edition of the doc, including the film’s first Blu-ray release, which features a new commentary track from the filmmaker. The DVD and Blu-ray are both out this coming Tuesday.
