There’s a fun documentary hitting VOD next week titled Just About Famous. It’s your typical convention profile, but the attendees are all celebrity impersonators, so it’s almost like you’re watching a movie starring Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Bette Midler, Madonna, Sean Connery, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and many other stars of Hollywood and Washington. Of course, they’re not the real deal, and the fascination with how and why the subjects got into entertaining in this way is tremendous.
Prior to making the new feature, directors Jason Kovacsev and Matt Mamula did a short film on the Sunburst Convention for Celebrity Tribute Artists, and that 2010 release has the same name. Much of the material from the 14-minute version also made its way into the 95-minute extension, which makes the short something of a preview now. It does still stand on its own, though, and we’re very happy to exclusively host and present the online premiere of the Just About Famous short below.
If you like the short doc, be sure to check out the feature remake, which will be available on iTunes (pre-order), Google Play, Vudu and on JustAboutFamous.com beginning on April 21, 2015.
