‘The Look of Silence’ Trailer

Joshua Oppenheimer’s follow-up to The Act of Killing, this is a continued documentation of Indonesia’s genocidal “communist purge” that is even better, more extraordinary, in some ways simpler and in other ways more complex. Again executive produced by Werner Herzog and Errol Morris, The Look of Silence follows an optometrist whose older brother was killed half a century ago, before he was born, as he confronts the murderers with a stone face and difficult questions. The new trailer is heavy on blurbs, which makes sense given how well-received it’s been on the festival circuit this fall. Drafthouse Films will open the sorta sequel in theaters next summer.
