Who else wasn’t even aware the Oscar-nominated documentary The Gatekeepers was spinning off a TV series? Or that it was based on an idea to first do a lengthier version for television? Whichever was the original intent, director Dror Moreh has indeed made a five-hour mini-series further exploring the Israeli security agency Shin Bet. And the first 50-minute episode will see its U.S. premiere next month at the Other Israel Film Festival in New York City. Moreh will also be on hand for a post-screening discussion.

The event goes from November 14–21, and the Gatekeepers: The TV Series screening will be on Saturday, November 16 in the afternoon. It also appears to be free.

Other documentaries screening at the 7th Annual OIFF include Apples of Golan, Dancing in Jaffa, Dove’s Cry, The Fading Valley, The Garden of Eden, Good Garbage, Green Dreams, It’s Better to Jump, The Lesson and Mom, Dad, I’m Muslim.

Michael Moore is also expected to make an appearance during the fest, and I’m guessing it’s to discuss Good Garbage, which played his Traverse City Film Festival.

For more info on the films and to get tickets, visit the OIFF website.
