Stream ‘The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye’ Free on Nonfics All This Week

Update: This film has expired, but check in for more free films streaming on Nonfics here.

Last week, we included Marie Losier’s film The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye in our list of the Best Documentary Portraits of LGBT Culture. Now, coincidentally, it has been programmed as one of this week’s free streams at Doc Alliance as part of a curation of very atypical music films that have screened at CPH:DOX. There are three other features selected for the event, labeled “Don’t Stop the Music,” but one of them is unavailable to watch in the United States (Petey & Ginger: A Testament to the Awesomeness of Mankind). The others you can stream at no cost through this Sunday, though, are The Ghost of Piramida, starring the Danish band Efterklang, and Unplugged, a Serbian doc involving leaves employed as instruments.

As for The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, this film is about industrial music pioneer and performance artist Genesis P-Orridge and h/er partner/collaborator Lady Jaye Breyer during their physical transformations for an experimental project involving gender neutrality. Our own Daniel Walber calls it “deeply romantic and thoroughly surprising.” Watch it below while available.
