The nominees for the 30th Film Independent Spirit Awards have been announced, and as usual there’s a mix of fiction of nonfiction categories with no documentaries represented in fields like editing, directing and cinematography. But it is the rare awards that have two whole honors just for nonfiction films, so that’s good. Below are the nine titles in contention over the two doc categories only. The award includes a $25,000 unrestricted grant funded by LensCrafters.
