Shot over a period of five years, Ryan McGarry’s directorial debut, Code Black, follows the filmmaker and fellow doctors-in-training as they cut their teeth at Los Angeles County Hospital’s Emergency Department, the busiest in the U.S. and the birthplace of Emergency medicine, while also shining a light on the healthcare debate that continues to rage on in this country.
In the following lip from the film, McGarry relays his story of being diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma while a freshman at Pennsylvania State University.
Code Black opens tomorrow at the IFC Center in New York City.
