Quick take: Even though their previous documentary had a lot of problems, I’m always going to be interested in provocative films like this one challenging the “progressive, leftist critique” of the U.S. as a nation built on theft. The premise makes me think of Howard Zinn’s book The People’s History of the United States, only now we’re getting another 180-degree history. Complete with reenactments, which should be really special. Plus, I’ll watch anything with Chomsky, even if it’s not in favor of him.

Release date: July 4, 2014

Synopsis, via The Hollywood Reporter:

In America, D’Souza — who wrote and produced the film — makes the claim that 1960s radical leftism is more or less indistinguishable from current mainstream liberalism, a doctrine that he says preaches the United States is the product of “stealing and plunder” from Native Americans, Mexicans and African-American slaves.
